PlanckerDao and Scroll are proud to jointly host Gitcoin Grants Matching Round to help fund open source projects in the Greater China Ethereum community ecosystem using Quadratic Funding. The round will focus on the development of the Ethereum community and ecosystem in the Greater China.

Greater China is an informal geographical area that shares commercial and cultural ties with the Chinese people. But generally speaking, if you have any connection to Chinese culture, we consider you part of the Greater China community, no matter where you come from or what you do.

Ethereum is a vibrant community, and there are many potential projects and excellent developers in Greater China. Through this round, we aim to help the Ethereum community become more diverse and prosperous while supporting more decentralized contributors to build their own projects. We welcome all open source projects, groundbreaking research and all public goods and educational projects that help developers and researchers.

The Greater China Ethereum Commnity Ecosystem Round will run as part of Gitcoin Grants Round 15. This round will be held on gitcoin.co/grants and is open to all grantees who fit the eligibility guidelines below. PlanckerDao and Scroll believes this is a fantastic way to let our community decide which projects deserve funding. The matching pool will be $50,000 and paid out in (Dai). Only donations during this round will be counted towards the QF distribution of the matching funds (GR15 will run Sept 7-22, 2022). We are excited to see the projects and support from the community!

Eligibility

PlanckerDao and Scroll holds sole discretion on which grants are eligible for matching. Disputes will be handled by the GitcoinDAO Public Goods Funding Workstream consulting with PlanckerDao and Scroll’s round representatives. Here are key factors for determining whether your project is eligible to be a grant included in the Greater China Ethereum Community Ecosystem Round:

  1. The Grant must be in support of or directly advance the Greater China Ethereum Community ecosystem.
  2. The Grant may not have any form of quid pro quo that has financial value (a scenario in which a user gets some additional unique benefit/award in return for their donation).
  3. The Grant owner must be directly affiliated with the project, the funds must go to the project and be used for the purposes stated in Grant’s details.
  4. The Grant should be focused on accomplishing the following:
    1. Ethereum-centric - All open source tools, educational projects, applications, advanced research (such as EIPs, etc.) with Ethereum-centric
    2. Greater China-based - At least one founder or team member comes with a Greater China background
    3. Onboarding and Community - Helping and educating Chinese developers/researchers to jump into the Ethereum community; Growing the Chinese developers/researchers ecosystem
  5. The Grant project should not have its own token or have raised VC funding (let’s keep the funds for the aspiring projects!)
  6. The Grant project should be open source

<aside> 💡 Grants submitted after the first week of the round(Sept 13) will not be accepted or qualify for matching. Please try to submit your project’s application before the round begins (Sept 7) to ensure your grant is approved and put into active status for the entire round. There is typically a 2 to 3 days review period after being submitted before grants are published.
